For all of you who love the Quickutz Silhouette but have a computer with the Vista operating system, your Silhouette will now work with your new computer! The update is now up on the Qk website: http://www.quickutz.com/index.asp?CartId=&Show=silhouette&selProduct=Support

All you have to do is follow the prompts to get started using your Silhouette today. I only found out about the upgrade because I had emailed Quickutz about my Silhouette on Saturday. Today, Brian from Quickutz called me personally to discuss my email. During our discussion, he mentioned that Quickutz would have the Silhouette update for Vista users available later today on their website. And he was right! Can you believe that?! Awesome, personal customer service AND a compnay that does what they say they will. Just gotta love Quickutz!

If you have not yet purchased a Silhouette (maybe because you are leery of getting a machine that has to hook up to your computer…) you should take Gilbert and Julie’s Silhouette 101 Class on August 14th. They will show you the ins and outs of getting your Silhouette to do amazing things! And now that the Silhouette is compatible with Vista, what are you waiting for?!

Well, if you want to know the truth, our feet are killing us.  Yes, from walking the show but mostly from walking back and forth from our room to the hotel lobby.  Everytime we leave, our keys don’t work and we get locked out.  We just ate a quesadilla in the hallway because we didn’t want it to get cold walking back down to the lobby.  We are starting to get a complex.  Ha!Ha!  Good News!!  Soon the store is going to be loaded with tons of new product.  Trish has gone crazy with the orders.  Some of our favorites for today are; Bo Bunny, Doodle Bug, Making Memories, A to Z, Basic Grey, Prima, We R Memories, Autumn Leaves, K & Company …well maybe the list would be smaller if we just tell you what we didn’t like.  Don’t worry, we are getting it all.  Trish also ordered these really cool new stamps from Inque Boutique.  You are going to love them.  The highlight of our day was getting “Shagged” by Austin Powers at the Doodlebug booth.  We are the new “Shagettes.” No, not the real Austin Powers but it was a good photo opportunity.  So, tomorrow will most likely be a repeat of today…lots of walking and lots of ordering, which means…more new AWESOME PRODUCTS.  We can’t wait!!!  We want it now!!!  Julie and Michelle

Heidi Michelle JulieHeidi Michelle JulieHeidi Michelle JulieWe had an exciting day.  We partied all day and ate ALL DAY at the preview parties.  We first started out at the Fiskars/Heidi Grace/Cloud 9 party.  Do you want to know what Trish ordered?  The question really is what didn’t Trish order.  She fell in love with absolutely everything and had to have it all.  The new lines are to die for.  We even got to meet Heidi Grace and her baby daughter, Reagan.  Heidi Michelle JulieHeidi Michelle JulieCreative CafeCreative CafeCreative CafeCreative CafeHeidi Michelle JulieCreative CafeCreative Cafe

After ordering, we really worked up an appetite and went to lunch.  Next we headed to Creative Imaginations.  We were like kids in a candy shop and just wait until you see the new candy shop that’s coming to SGT.

Creative Cafe

It’s called Creative Cafe.  The papers and embellishments are so cute.  Matching buttons, felt flowers, and just wait until you see the matching ribbon.  A definate favorite at Creative Imaginations was the chocolate fountain, and it was free!!

mmmm chocolate

Yummy marshmallows, bananas, pretzels, pineapple, and strawberries.  Are you hunrgy yet?  After we got our chocolate fix we hitched a ride with some friends to yet another preview party at Luxe Designs.  They had some really cute rubons and some really great Luxtini’s.  Did we mention it was an open bar?  Wow! Do they know how to throw a party.  Those Luxtini’s were so pretty.  They were teal colored.  After a few Luxtini’s we stumbled over to SEI and the Stamping Station parties.  We of course ate more food and by this time we were all tired and ready for bed, until…..we got a phone call from Gibert who was at a seminar all day with the smart group.  Guess who won the $5,000.00 grand prize.  Yep!!!  It was Gilby!!!  So, now it was time to party yet again!!!  We had to celebrate our winnings.  Gilby is so lucky!!!  He wins all the time.  So it was down the street with friends to the Ram Pub and Brewery for more food, dessert, drinks, and lots of fun.  And all of this exciting fun was after getting only four hours of sleep last night.  So on that note were are off to sleep for a few hours again before starting another day at CHA Chicago.  Stay tuned for more info.  Michelle and Julie

I am offering an alternate themed book in my Girl Scout 6×6 book class! We’ll be learning how to make this fabulous handmade, magnetic closure book on July 26th from 630pm-9pm at Scrappin’ Good Times.
Samples of both books are on display at Scrappin’ Good Times. Here is a pic of the cover of the alternate book:

We’ll be using American Crafts’ gorgeous new rub-ons, various stamps, and the Accu-cut diecutting machine to personalize this book to the theme of your choice. I chose to use “Family” on the sample but you can choose any theme you’d like from pets to travel to holidays! And if you’re making the Girl Scout book, we’ll be using these same elements to customize your book as well.

The color scheme is mostly red and brown tones with some hints of blue and cream. I used some very fun papers from Daisy D’s, Crate Paper, Wild Asparagus, Making Memories, and Cosmo Cricket. The base of the album and the layout are the same as the Girl Scout themed book; I just changed the colors. The book looks completely different just by changing a couple of colors; this just goes to show you how versatile this book pattern and design are!

Here is a little snippet of part of an interior page:

The ribbons on the binding of the book are included for BOTH books. The class is July 26th so make sure you sign up soon! I will call you before the class and ask which book you would like to make, the Girl Scout book or the alternate book. I hope to see you in class. You won’t want to miss this one of a kind book!

Ever want to know more about your local “good time girl”? Check out the “About Us” link on the SGT website. New bios and pics have been added for most of the girls. Plus, you get to know a little more about Trish and Vivina, the two who started it all…

I’ve been on vacation so haven’t been in the store for a few weeks.  I took Julie Johnson’s Family Series Class tonight and my or my – the store looks a little bare.  Some might think that it’s not a good thing but I think it’s so exciting that the store will soon be filled with all the new products from CHA Chicago.  We’ve all been keeping up on the internet buzz on what’s new coming out and some of it looks to good to be true.  Beautiful, Beautiful new lines of paper.  I know Trish and Gilbert will be searching isle upon isle looking for the best of the best and soon it will be on those empty shelves.

First of all, I would like to thank all of the ladies for coming to my Saturday and Sunday “You Make Me Smile” classes.  I had lots of fun!!  I hope all of you are having fun doodling your hearts out now!!  This class has been so popular that I decided to add a third class on Saturday, September 1 from 11:30-4:30.  This will be the final class so don’t wait long to sign up. Julie
