InthePink

If you missed nabbing a spot in this coming Sunday’s “Silly Old Bear” class, here’s some good news –there’s a new alternate version of the class available. The new version uses more pink elements so is a bit more feminine, but not super girly. The album size is a bit smaller, so I’ve added two additional pages in the new class. “In the Pink” will take place on  Sunday, 3/9.  The sample is on display in the store.

Do you remember the devastation in the form of FIRE last October?

Here is a quote from Gena Barney the owner of Cool Scrapbook Stuff:  “The witch fire (the one closest to me) burned 1040 homes, 414 outbuildings, 239 vehicles, plus 70 homes and 24 outbuildings were damaged — i believe that approx 500 of those homes were burned in rancho bernardo (where i live! – i live less than 6 miles from my store). ”

Gena, the owner of Cool Scrapbook Stuff in Poway, is organizing an event for the people who lost their homes in those devastating fires last October*.  She rented a 20,000 square foot storefront in her shopping center. She has been collecting scrapbook donations to give to those people who lost EVERYTHING.  The response has been amazing.  Customers donated scrapbook product and many manufacturers donated huge amounts of product. Two dozen scrapbook stores in So Cal are also helping out with this effort.

*Update: this event is for all California Residents from losses from Fires. NOTE… FEMA/Red Cross paperwork/ID is required!  Check CSS website for more info!

There is only one problem.  She is having trouble finding people to physically man the event.  She needs help!!

The event is being held at 12369 Poway Rd, Poway, CA 92064.
The dates are as follows:

Friday, February 22 – Sunday, February 24 and
Friday, February 29 – Sunday, March 2

They are scheduling two shifts per day.  You can volunteer to work from 10:30 am – 3:00 pm or 3:00 pm – 7:30 pm. If you are feeling extra generous you can work all day.  Gena would appreciate any time you can give.

If you belong to any other scrapbook message boards please send this message out!
I know this is last minute but lets step up to the plate and help our fellow scrapbook sisters who lost everything.  Give the gift of your time.  If you can help, please call Gena at 858-679-9100.

Good Time Girls at CHA08

Good Time Girls Nancy, Valeree and Kristin

CHA Winter ’08 is now history. But while it was here you know all us “good time girls” (and “guys”) were on the prowl for the hottest new trends and products. Here are a few things to keep your eyes peeled for: the new Basic Grey Rub-on Roller (a cool tool), the “Cogsmo” line from Cosmo Cricket (and their Blackboard albums too), the new extended Quickutz platform and dies for the Revolution and lots of fun stuff from Prima –they’re not just about flowers any more!

Diehard scrapbooking car!

So funny story about this photo. As I was pulling into the parking structure this morning for CHA, this car caught my eye. I had to chuckle to myself. This picture doesn’t do it justice. There must be at least 1/8” of muck on this poor car. I don’t even want to know what kind of weather this person had to drive through to make it to CHA Anaheim (they came from Idaho)!!! Someone was clearly on a mission to make it to the hottest trade show of the scrapbooking industry. And can we blame them?

As I was leaving the show I told myself I had to capture this photo. So I as I drove out, I had my camera all ready in my hand. I was going to slow to a stop, snap the picture, and be off. Well wouldn’t you know, another car was right on my tail. I am thinking, “I can’t stop and take a picture! They’ll think I am a crazy person.” OK … so I would snap it as I go drove by. I did this only to find there was a parking attendant right in front of me directing me how to get out. As my flash goes off!!! So much for not looking like a crazy person. I thought for sure someone would be pulling me over any minute for stalking. Fortunately my faster than fast Mercury Sable was able to dodge any coppers.

On a sidenote, there is a TON of cute new product out. I am sure you will not be disappointed.

02-10-ruler31.gifThe secret was unveiled yesterday (Sunday) at the CHA show. Quickutz has released a new way of using your Revolution die cut machine. They have designed an attachment to make long borders for your layouts.

Here some samples of the new borders that Quickutz is releasing! So many possibilities! I love them all!  -Susan B.

The secret will be revealed tomorrow at the Craft and Hobby Association (CHA) show. But we “heard” that Quickutz will unveil new product for the Revolution on Sunday (Feb 10th), that will be ABSOLUTELY irresistible!!! If you own the Revolution machine you will be glad you do, and if you have not made the investment yet, Quickutz is hoping when you see the new product you will! I can not wait… Quickutz has come out with some great new products and dies this past year. I can not wait to see what they are so ga-ga over! -Susan B.

JanShowcase
There is a treat in store for you with the beginning of every month (well, actually there are LOTS of treats – this is just *one* of them!). At the beginning of every month, Julie changes out the Inspiration Showcase at the front of the store. The February tableau is fabulous, but in case you missed January’s offering, here is a one last look. Julie and Pamela are now taking care of the window display too, so you’ll see some more inspirational projects spilling over into the window area as well.

(PS other monthly treats include the Layout and Card kits of the month –there’s always something new when the first rolls around!)

Family Class picture

Well, another class kickoff has come and gone. And quite a successful one at that. Just wanted to write a quick post indicating there are only a few spots left (at least last time I checked) for our (Krista and Barbara) QuicKutz Anonymous Family themed class; scheduled for Saturday 3/29/08 from 11:30 to 3:30.

You will make a 2-page layout along with a chipboard mini album featuring a gorgeous line of K&Co. paper. The perfect places to feature those family members you love most! And if that’s not enough, you will receive your very own QuicKutz fleur-de-lis die (RS-0271). The QuicKutz tool is not required to take this class. Class cost is $46.

The sample is up in the store so come on by to sign up. Or … did you know you can call into the store and sign up for a class? Just call (909)305-0748 and be ready to give them your payment info.

We do offer a limited number of kits as well. So if you can’t make the class, don’t despair. Sign up for a kit (complete with pictures and instructions for those steps that might not be so clear). Plus we keep the samples in the store for a few weeks, so you can bring in your kit on a day that you’re free and have the sample right there in front of you to work off of.

We hope to see you in class.
