Hello!

Posted on: August 25, 2009

Thought I would stop by and send a big SGT “Hello” your way.  Here is a little card I wipped up with a few scraps I had on hand.  The paper is My Minds Eye, added a few brads, some trim, and the tag is a digital design by Katie Pertiet.  Enjoy, Julie

This week is summer CHA!  That means new stuff!!  Out with the old and in with the new!!  I just can’t wait to see all the new lines SGT will be getting soon…so check back often!  Julie

How many of you follow the Cosmo Cricket blog?  I just love their blog!!  They have all the new releases for CHA up…check them out, they are so cute.  But that’s not why I’m writing.  Another reason I love their blog is cause Lindsley, Julie, and Eric are so funny…I just love to read what they write.  This particular post had me hysterically laughing.  Unfortunately, I could relate in many ways!!  You have to read it here.  Can you relate???    Julie

So I posted about my photo class the other day but now I have a free class that you can sign up for.  Jessica Sprague is offering a FREE photo editing course in honor of their second birthday.  Registration is free but you need to sign up the week of June 22-28.  The class starts on July 6.  Here is what she will be teaching:

In this brand-new class, Jessica will show you dozens of awesome techniques you can use to add effects to your photos, including:

  • Brushes
  • Frames
  • Masks
  • Textures
  • Blending modes
  • Filters
  • and more!

You will love learning how to add beautiful frames, brushes, and edges to your photos, and giving them specific looks: dreamy, vintage, cross-processed, soft light, and LOTS MORE. You’re in for the educational experience that only JessicaSprague.com has to offer: screencast video, a private gallery to post your work, a forum to answer your questions, daily emails from Jessica.

I really want to learn how to add those filters to my photos, it really gives them a quality and professional look.  I personally took Jessica’s last free class on journaling techniques and I learned so much so I’m excited that she is offering another free class.  Here is the link to her website: http://www.jessicasprague.com/.  So mark your calendars and hope to see you on the message boards.  Julie

I’m so excited!!  My Photographer’s workshop binder from Karen Russell came in the mail.  It was packaged up so cute…cause you know it’s all about the packaging with us scrappers!  An extremely thick binder, tied with a pink bow, a cute tag, and even my very own pen…so cool!  Can’t wait for my online class to start.  It’s going to be 8 fun weeks packed with all kinds of photography tips and techniques.  Hopefully when I’m done I will be able to take some much improved photos.  I had a friend take the course and she said Karen is amazing!!

If you are interested in her classses you can check out her website here.  I feel extremely lucky that I was able to get in on this class.  Apparently there was a glich when I registered so she took a few extra people and I was one of them…Yeah!!  BTW…I received an e-mail from her the other day regarding class and she informed all of us that there is now over 700 on her waiting list.  WOW!  But she says she will continue to teach this class for as long as she has students.  So get on the list!   Julie

I’m a huge fan of Tim Holtz…where do you think I learned how to do all my beautiful inking.  He is always the hit at the CHA shows and all the women flock to him.  He is amazingly talented and not mention very funny and captivating.  If you want to get just a little bit of a “Tim” fix then check out his blog…http://timholtz.typepad.com/my_weblog/.  He even has some great tutorials.  And don’t forget that SGT carries alot of his products, like my personal favorite…distressing ink!     Julie

Don’t forget to mark your calendars because the next class kick off is just around the corner and so is summer!!  A little time off, some relaxation, and maybe a class or two.  I’m sure you won’t want to miss what the SGT girls have lined up for summer….They are sure to be HOT!!!  Here is a sneak peek…..

My good friend and I spent a day scrapping while she was on spring break (she works at a school).  We don’t get to see each other that much so I think we do more gabbin’ than scrappin’  but we did complete a page for our London albums.  FYI…Jamie went to London with her family.  I think it’s going to take us forever to complete this entire vacation.  This page uses the Marakesh line from Basic Grey and the title was made with the Pazzles Inspiration.  Thanks for looking…Julie

So I just finished up with my lastest mini album and I had a few left over scraps so I decided to make this card.  BTW…the mini album is super cute!!   The paper is one of my favorite lines from CHA…Jillibean Soup.  Enjoy!   Julie

I have enjoyed spending the last week with my daughter, Jamie.  She is home on spring break and the week definately went by way too fast.  In between her spending time with her friends we got to spend girl time shopping in LA and at the Mall, and a not so great time at the hair dresser.  We all need at least one bad visit to the hair dresser in our lifetime, right??  Jamie leaves tomorrow but will return in just a short five weeks and then we will have her back for the summer…well hopefully…she is talking about a summer internship and her sorority BFF has invited her to come stay with her for a few weeks.  She is from the Netherlands!  Anyway…Jamie had to make a kite for her sorority sister and this is what we came up with.   Julie
