Scrappin' Good Times Blog

When time allows I love to just roam from blog to blog to blog and see where I end up. A while back I was brought to Cosmo Cricket’s blog. I love their product and I really enjoy reading the blog posts. Recently they showed how to make a super cute gift bag/box/holder type of thing out of one 12×12 piece of cardstock and I thought I would share.

So go here if you’re interested. Best thing is that any 12×12 paper will work. I have not yet made one of my own yet, but I will definitely be trying in the next couple of weeks. Comment on this post if you try it and it works.

Awhile back, I went to play minigolf with Ryan… and well, I’ve finally gotten around to doing something with a few of the pictures… Please keep in mind that it’s a work in progress (ie no embellies, no title, no journaling… yet) and I’m not a creative genius like all my co-workers.. But here’s a peak:IMG_2372IMG_2373Any suggestions to help me finish??  What would YOU do?

Well, we have a brand new month of projects ready for you!  It is my FAVORITE time of year….Halloween!!   First up is a Spooky Halloween Spoon designed by my little Allie Cat.  Not only is this a super cute decoration, but it is functional as well…AND…here’s the bonus…. the ultra darling acetate tag has a recipe for spider stacks!!  I sure do hope to see all of your beautiful faces tomorrow evening as we kick off a fun month of projects!

If there’s any way you all might be able to make the next several days come at a snail’s pace, that would be wonderful. My precious first baby’s 4th birthday is this Thursday and in my typical fashion I am running around trying to get 100,000,000 million things done. Again … the curse of a crafter. I can’t possibly buy her a cake. No way! I am going to MAKE her this one:

princess castle cake

You can bet your booty if this cake comes out well, that I will post a ton of pictures. And if you don’t see it up on this blog next week, well … you know the fate of the cake. Yes, an unfortunate “fall” out my back door.

And the goody bags! Don’t get me started. I have had to scale back my original plans of making super hero capes for all the boys and princess wands for all the girls because my sewing skills are severely lacking. So as of now, all they’re getting are white chocolate lollypops. Again made by me. But those are so easy!!!!!! What do 3 and 4 years olds want in a goody bag? I can’t bring myself to put that plastic junk in them with those tiny parts that break in a day. I can’t afford to buy each bag a book or doll or something. My head hurts thinking about it. I know it will come to me in time. Or time will just escape and it will be what it will be. But in the meantime, stress and me are best friends! Yes, stress is my BFF.

But when Thursday arrives, my BFF will be temporarily banished because we are taking Hannah to Disneyland for the day. And, shhhhh … don’t tell her, but she’s going to get to go to Build-a-Bear too. I hope she loves it as much as I love the idea of it.

I hope everyone is enjoying these last days of September.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars… Class kick-off is coming soon. Friday, Oct 2, we’ll be unveiling the new classes for November and December.  It’s such an upbeat, exciting night as we get to see the new classes being offered by our fantastic designers/instructors. I’m sure there will be lots of holiday ideas to use to scrap those special holiday pictures as well as dynamic projects you can make for those special people on your list. Hope to see you there.

i just finished packing up everything for my ‘harvest thyme’ card class tonight…and something struck me…excitement!

i realized how happy it makes me to see those faces around the table, creating something that i designed…cards that i put a little piece of me into…

so, i am grateful…for SGT being a second home, with family that welcomes me with hugs and smiles…for my students that fill me up with joy and add laughter to my day…for my fellow designers that inspire and support me…

if you haven’t take a class at SGT or haven’t made it to a class in a while, maybe it’s time to get in there…laugh, create, play, and share…we’re waiting for you!

Hey ladies, there’s several spots available for the upcoming crop this weekend, Sept 25 and 26.  We have a back-to-back Friday night and all day Saturday.  You can get started on Friday night, 5 to 11, leave everything overnight and come back Saturday for 12 full hours of scrapbooking time, 10 to 10.  If you just come for Friday night, it’s $12, Saturday is $20, or the combo is only $25.  You’ll have full use of our die cut center the entire time, 10% off all your purchases, and even some snacks and goodies.  If you haven’t attended a crop before, help support the store and come this weekend.  Bring your pictures and supplies, and you can fill in the gaps here.  Everyone is always helpful with advice and ideas (if needed), and we certainly are surrounded by great ideas and inspiration in the store.

If you’ve been thinking about it but not ready to sign up yet, come by and check it out!

Hope to see you – Barbara

Cal Poly has changed their policy about club/organization advisors in that they cannot be from the office of student life, which means, my sorority had to find new advisors for this upcoming year.  To honor our advisor of 8 years, Dora, the active class set up a dinner for her and they asked me (apparently they think I’m creative or something..) to make her a paddle.  Using the Quickutz Revolution, Silhouette, sakura paper punches, swarovski crystals, pearls, and seed beads, I was able to come up with a PRETTY paddle.  Take a look:

IMG_2640IMG_2643IMG_2644It may not be a 2 page layout, but with the same tools, you can create all types of gifts.  I’m pretty sure Dora loved her paddle, and well, everyone was trying to drop hints about wanting one.   Just wanted to share while it was fresh in my mind.  Happy Creating!

You know there aren’t many scrapbooking magazines around any more, but one of my favorites is still Paper Crafts.  The November/December edition was put into inventory today at the store and it caught my eye.  There are always so many cute projects in this magazine.  It is definitely a MUST HAVE!!!
