First page of 2009!

on:Hooray for the first layout of the year!
I had a chance to work with the new Bittersweet line by Basic Grey. I’ve been wanting to scrap this pic of my daughter for awhile now and this line was just the perfect thing. Let me just tell you if you haven’t seen it yet it is absolutely YUMMY! I have a feeling it won’t be on the shelves for long -lol!
I picked up several different patterns as well as the chipboard embellishments and the rubon booklet. When it came time to decide what paper I wanted to use, I couldn’t choose because I love them *ALL* so instead of picking a couple I used a bunch of the different patterns in small squares. (The layout is a scraplift of a page by a scrapping friend.)
Sketch mania!

on:The new showcase for August is in place and it is fantabulous! All the designers built their layouts using the same sketch and you’re not going to believe how diverse and unique they all are. I know before I was a fan of sketches (aka blueprints, floorplans, page grids, pagemaps) I just didn’t “get” why other scrappers were so enthusiastic about them. But now I am a complete convert. A sketch gives you a great starting point and saves all that time of inventing your page from the ground up. (Especially when you are experiencing “white page syndrome” aka “scrapper’s block”.)
And the really super thing is that pages made from sketches don’t look alike. I know that this is a concern to scrappers that are new to sketches. Trust me –sketch based pages are as wonderfully diverse and unique as any other scrapbook layout. And you can see that for yourself when you take a look at the August showcase.
(I was so excited about the showcase that I completely forgot to take pics of the August kits of the month. But as usual they are super cute too!)
