Scrappin' Good Times Blog

Just wanted to let you know that there are class seats open in both my classes this weekend. From 11am until 1:30pm I’ll be teaching Intro to Scrapbooking, which is a great one for anyone who is just getting started in this terrific hobby. And for you more experienced scrappers, from 2:00pm until 4:30pm I’ll be teaching “You Are My Sunshine” – a 6″ x 6″ mixed media book made of chipboard and acetate.

Well, I was cruising the Shop Hop make-n-take gallery today and lookie what I found. Some finished pages using the SGT design. I can’t wait to put mine together.

09SoCalShopHopMNT-02The “Wild Things” make-n-take was very popular, so unfortunately, we’re sold out of  kits. But there are *SO* many other cute kits for quick projects on the shelves right now. Last time I was in the store I noticed Countdown to Christmas kits, tag kits, ScrapTherapy kits, and page kits.

I don’t know about you, but I love putting kits together. I love creating from scratch too, but it can be very relaxing to have all the “thinking” done and just put your energy into the building part (and I don’t always follow the kit exactly … that’s another great thing with kits: they’re versatile!)

So if you need a quick project or need to give your creative brain a break, check out the array of kits next time you’re at the store.

PS: Guess what? I checked at the store again and there are just a few of these kits left. They won’t last long, tho!

Edited on 8/26 to announce a winner: Michelle Sanchez, come on down! You are the lucky lady whose name I drew out of my basket. I’ll be by the store next Tuesday and will leave your prize at the front register. Congrats!

So are you part of this year’s SoCal Shop Hop? There’s just about one week left of this year’s event (it ends next Sunday, 8/23). SGT sold out its original stock of passports, but I understand we got some more in. (There’s still time to join in on the fun!)

One of things I’ve enjoyed most is meeting up with other Shop-Hoppers. I met some at our Class Kickoff (including some FaceBook friends that I hadn’t yet met in person). I’ve also run into some of our regular Good Time Girls while out hopping which has been great fun (shout out to Sharon W, Irene, Stephanie and Sharon R.!)

How about you? Have you run into other Good Time Girls out on your expedition? Had any exciting experiences? (The first year we got lost pretty good in Temecula – ugh!) Or any other memorable events you’ll not soon forget?

Tell us about your ShopHop adventures with a comment here at the SGT blog. After the ShopHop is over, I’ll draw one lucky name from all the Shop Hopping blog commenters to receive a prize from me. (And if you want to read about my hopping trek, you can check in at my blog over the next week: MammaJamma Blabba.)

If you run into me out there on the SoCal  “serengeti”  be sure to say hi (I’m down to only seven stores to visit – Wildomar, Temecula and cities near San Diego – on Friday 8/21). Hope I see some of you!

CHA (Craft & Hobby Association) Summer Trade Show is over but the releases & pics are still popping up all over the internet (try a google search & you’ll see what I mean). Here is a “sum-up” report from the CHA show at Scrapbook Update blog with a Top Ten picks list.  Enjoy!

It’s the end of the month, folks! That means one more day to spend $20 at SGT and qualify for August’s “Operation Save SGT” discount. Your $20 purchase during July, earns you a 10% discount off every single purchase in August! And that’s not all! Read more here.

The end of July also means we’ll soon be saying goodbye to the July Showcase (pictured below – though the layouts will migrate to other places in the store). But no need to get too sad because the new month will bring lots of brand spankin’ new stuff too! There’ll be a new showcase (look for it just in front of the ribbon wall, to your right as you enter the store). There will also be a new card kit of the month AND a page kit of the month. Ooooooooo! (They sell out quickly, so if you want one be sure to stop by right away!)

And since August is an “even” numbered month, that means we’ll also be having a class kickoff event the first Friday of the month (8/7).

SOoooooo many good things!070909 026 (Small)

I was wandering around the store the other day and ran across this really cute card. I don’t know how long it’s been in the store or who designed it (tho I have my suspicions), but it is so adorable that I just had to snap a pic of it and share it here.  Too cute!

There are so many samples around the shelves and on the walls in the store – I love when I find one I hadn’t seen before. It’s like finding a little surprise waiting there just for me!

And, btw, while I’m thinking of it you are always welcome to take photos of samples in the store for inspiration (except for class samples). So next time you come for a visit, bring your camera and get snapping.070909 027 (Large)

One of our customers was working on the cutest cupcake invitation last week at the Club Java crop. I just couldn’t resist taking a photo and posting it here for inspiration. Thanks, Jennifer!

Below is another view of the “open” invitation. Isn’t it just too adorable?
