Scrappin' Good Times Blog

Archive for April 2008

How many times have you sat down to create your scrapbooking pages and drew a blank on what to title it or what to journal about? Usually I know exactly what I want on my page, but sometimes I’m completely blocked on my title or journaling. Years ago I used to keep a journal, but recently started up again. I’ve discovered that it is a jewel for my blocked moments. It is a handy tool to have. Just today I scribbled down some notes on what my nephew says (he’s 2). At such a young age words change quickly and develop into actual words, so it was important for me to note how he says words now and they will make a wonderful addition to my pages about him.

This past weekend some of the girls and I went on a scrapbook weekend in Escondido. We visited some of the local scrapbook stores, ate plenty of goodies and I completed 6 pages. The weekend started with a party in the appropriate named room I was staying in, the fiesta room. The room was decorated south of the border…very bright colors…reds, greens, yellows, you get the picture. It was Saturday night that we had a visitor. He was light grey and about 5 inches long and answered to the name Escondido Bandido, or at least that’s what we called him. It was kind of comical watching the “Brave Ones” Michelle, Pamela, Marisa, Nancy and Kim run from room to room trying to corral this little guy. I was supervising from the end of the hallway on top of a table, mostly screaming. Well, they finally managed to get “Mr. Bandido” out of a side door and all was calm. But not really. It was about a half hour later when Nancy spotted his brother  in the kitchen…I think the whole family lived there!! Well that was enough for me to sleep on my 6 foot scrapbook table. Nancy left some chips out in hopes that they would make themselves at home since I think it was their home, but also to keep them in the kitchen and out of the bedrooms!!!! I have to say, we had a great time even with our tiny visitors. I even was able to scrapbook a page about our little fury family. Hopefully one of the girls will post it!!!!!

There are only 4 spots left for the adorable Love Conquers All progressive make and take  on May 2.  It is filled with super chic pink and black papers and embellishments.  If you are interested make sure you call the store right away.  You are not going to want to miss out!!!

It’s that time of year to celebrate Mom and Dad!  Are you looking for the perfect gift?  Not enough time to scrapbook an entire album?  Put together an Acrylic Album by Clear Scraps, BoBunny or Carolee’s.  They make a special gift and you can put it together in a day! There are other great gifts by Kaiser Kraft for the home or better yet, the dorm room for your recent high school grad!!

I love going on scrapbook weekends…no interruptions, lots of scrapping, eating, and chating with great friends.  We had such a good time, although, it is now a week later and I am still trying to catch up on my sleep.  Since I finally get to scrap for “ME” on scrap weekend I like to get alot done.  At least alot done in my sense of the word since I am a very slow scrapper.  I think I slept a total of 6 hours between friday and sunday.  Went to sleep at 5:00a.m. and back up scrappin by 7:30-8:00a.m.  Crazy!!  I got a total of 14 pages done along with my journaling.  That’s pretty good for me!!  Thought I would share some of my layouts.  Come on into the store and check them out.  The supplies are going fast.      Julie

So I was working on some layouts for the store and my daughter Hannah came up and said she wanted to do it too. Knowing what a 2 1/2 year old would do to my projects, I compromised and gave her some old stickers and her own sheets of paper. She merrily went off to make her project. Much to my delight, when I finished my stuff and went to check on her, I found this:

Who needs paper?

Who says she’s not a future scrapbooker?
