Scrappin' Good Times Blog

Trish, Gilbert, Art and Vivina have been busy bringing more stuff over from their storage unit.  That place must have been packed!  I turned around from working at the register this afternoon, and the side wall is covered with a bunch of scrapbooking bags from a variety of companies.  And remember the old Creative Cafe?  The tags and chipboard shapes, etc.  There was a bunch of that stuff over there, so they brought it to the store and Lizett was busy packaging that up today for the dollar bins.  We also have some 12 x 12 frames on the walls for sale too.  I know there’s more, but I didn’t even get to see it all.

And Michelle made some more of those cute little chocolate holders for the holidays.  They flew out of there last weekend, so don’t miss them this weekend.

Get it before it’s gone!

So Devon just called from UCSD with plans for her second quarter.  She’s still a political science major, but she’s going to change from a focus in public law to international relations (sounds more interesting to me), AND my little shutterbug has decided to go for a minor in Photography!!  In case you’re new to our blog, she took over 8,000 pictures on our recent 18 day trip to Europe.  She absolutely loves taking pictures.  Her camera is always with her (and I’m not exaggerating).  I’m so happy she’ll be taking some classes now to improve her photography skills.

This seemed like a good time to share a couple of pictures she took on our trip.

Lucerne, Switzerland, pretty much our favorite place:

And here’s a great picture of the Eiffel Tower from the Seine River.  Believe it or not, it’s after 9:00 p.m. when this picture was taken.  It stayed light so long over there.

Once Devon starts taking some photography classes, I guess I’ll really have a lot of pictures to scrapbook!!!  I better start saving for our next trip.

Well, now that Operation Save SGT is strongly underway, we’re planning some fun events for the summer.  For starters, we’ve scheduled two crops.  It may take a few days to update the website, so I wanted to give you a heads-up.  You can start signing up today.  I’ll get the sign-up sheets ready.  Take your pick of crop time:  Friday night 5:00 to 11:00 for $12, Saturday all day 10:00 am to 10:00 pm for $20, or come for both days, leave all your stuff overnight and pick up where you left off on Saturday morning, for only $25!  All three choices will include use of our fabulous die cut center, which is getting very popular, light snacks and drinks, and of course 10% off your purchases.  If you’ve joined our Operation Save SGT this month for June, then you will receive an extra 5% off your purchases.  And during your crop time, you can make your $20 of purchases to qualify for your July discount and help Save SGT!

What are the dates you say?  I almost forgot.  The first one is June 12 and 13; the second one is August 14 and 15.

I just want to let you know what a wonderful day it was on Saturday.  I had a class going, and the store was buzzing with all of our wonderful customers all day.  At one point I went in to Trish, who was in the office with a customer, to tell her that Heidi and Devon were both at the register, and there was a line!!  That’s something we have not seen on a Saturday (with no special event) for quite a long time.  All I can say is THANK YOU to all of the wonderful ladies who have  come in and called just to say they want to help.  I love it here and would be very sad to see the doors closed (especially when Devon goes to school in San Diego later this year!).  I hope to see more of you all through the summer.

Now, here are some pictures from our last crop:

Monday morning

This is first thing Monday morning before all the girls get there.  How nice to leave everything behind, ready to go.

Here’s more of the girls getting some projects done:

I hope you’re able to come sometime for a crop.  I think some of the design team members may be joining us in the future to show us some new products and techniques, maybe do some diecutting on their fabulous machines.  Let’s wait and see.  This past one Cindy was showing us the Glimmer Mist.  It’s so beautiful and fun to work with.

Thanks for listening…Barbara

Just a reminder that this Saturday, March 14, is our Yard Sale, 9:00 to 1:00.  Imagine, 13 mini yard sales of only scrapbooking supplies: paper, stamps, die cutting tools, embellishments galore.  You name it, it will probably be there.  So save some of your time  Saturday morning and stop by for some really great deals!

And another reminder that we have our first Friday night crop this year coming up on March 20, 5:00 to 11:00.  It’s only $12 for the evening.  That’s less than a movie, popcorn and soda!!  Bring some of those class kits you haven’t got around to putting together, or bring your own supplies to make your layouts.  Bring some pictures and really get those pages done.  The beauty of cropping at the store is that, if you need something, you just go find it.  Not to mention being surrounded by all the samples in our store to really get those creative juices flowing!!  Reserve your spot now.

See you soon!

Wow, the clearance wall is all set up.   If you haven’t seen the newsletters recently sent out, let me tell you there’s a big clearance sale going on this weekend.  I stopped by the store yesterday afternoon, and there’s tons of paper, stickers, ribbon, etc., all half price.  There’s some cute little card kits and even some old magazines.  And much much more!  Come on by this weekend.  It continues until Monday, but there will be more to choose from today.  See you there!

Here are some photos taken by my personal photographer (Devon) at the recent 4th anniversary/birthday party sale/organizational/demo extravaganza!  It was a lot of fun, and – can you tell – a Hawaiian luau theme.

Five years will be here before we know it…I wonder what Trish will have in store for that special day!!!

We all come to SGT for supplies, friends, and inspiration. You know that when you walk in the door you will be struck by the beautiful displays. I often find that when I’m creatively challenged a visit to SGT brings back the spark. Looking at projects and layouts, anyone can find a technique or paper that they have not used. It’s an experience I like to share with my fellow scrapbookers. Thanks so much SGT for your inspiration.

For those of you waiting for the news, one of our new babies is here.  Krista’s sweet daughter is the first to arrive, as expected.  Little Makaela was born on Sunday, May 4, a very healthy 8 lbs 9 oz and 21 inches long.  It sounds like Krista and the baby are doing great.  Krista’s daughter Hannah is now the big sister.  This should be a lot of fun!!  When Krista has time, I’m sure she will post a picture for you all; but a lot of you have been asking how the girls are doing, so I thought I would share the news.  Lisa should be having her little boy, Jace, very soon.

A big congratulations to Krista and Joel!  with love – Barbara

Please post your comments here for Krista!  Thanks

Well, I’m finally learning how to post pictures on the blog (thanks to my daughter).  I took some photos at our recent 12-hour crop.  It was really a full house, and a lot of beautiful work was created that day!  I love walking up and down the tables and peeking at everyone’s stuff.

This is Cindy and Renee.  Cindy is a whiz on the Silhouette.  She’s been coming to the 12-hour crops every month for almost a year.  She makes all kinds of cute little cards and gifts.  Now she always brings her Silhouette and laptop.  It’s amazing watching her scroll through all her artwork and fonts to create her fabulous projects.  Check out her blog on SGT’s favorites, Cynful Designs.

This is Julie and Jill.  More easily and affectionately referred to as “the twins.”  It took me months to figure out who’s who, and I still have to double-check.  They love putting stuff on hold and telling me the other one’s name! The twins have been attending our 12-hour crops since we started over a year ago.   Lately they’ve been doing some organizing, something we all need to do to keep track of our pictures and all the new goodies we buy.

dscf0201small.jpg    Here’s Rosa (in the middle), who is enjoying her free 12-hour crop that she won at a recent SGT store event, with her friends Tina and Anna.

I’ll try and get some pictures of more of the girls and their work at the next crop.  Stay tuned…

Of course 3 hours after I am in the store my sister Julie calls me and tells me LITTLE YELLOW BICYCLE is in!!!! It was my favorite product at CHA. For any of you who have boy’s you are going to love it!!!! I am buying 2 of everything….It is great for school, surfing, skating, any thing boy. I am racing to the store now you better get it quick cause it going to go fast!
