My brother is currently serving in Afghanistan. On July 19th he and some of the members of the 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, 5th Stryker Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division from Fort Lewis, Washington were deployed to southern Afghanistan. Earlier this week we found out that on August 18th he was on patrol and his unit was attacked. Although he escaped unharmed two other soldiers lost their lives. Again on this past Tuesday, we found out that 4 more soldiers lost their lives. Needless to say, it has been such an emotional week. I fear for my brother’s safety, I am praying constantly. Every time I hear breaking news come on the radio or TV (whether it is the passing of Ted Kennedy or the recent fires) my heart drops and I pray that it isn’t news from Afghanistan.

I read somewhere that there are 60,000 troops in Afghanistan!! Does anyone else out there have loved ones serving in Afghanistan? Will you share with me so I can pray for the safety of your loved one? Tell me about them share a story, send me a picture. I’m praying for your loved ones even though I don’t know them personally.

This is my brother his wife and their baby.

My beautiful niece Zoe Brooke was born 3 days before he was deployed. I have started making cards for him so he can send to his wife. I know this has been difficult for her as well. Once I am done making some of my cards, I will post them. Take care for now 🙂

Here are two more pictures of my brother and little Zoe before he left…

I just got back from visiting Zion Canyon and Bryce Canyon in Utah. I have visited twice before when I was younger. This trip was a big vacation my parents, my 3 siblings, their spouses, and 9 of my nephews and nieces all went. As you can see, it was so much fun!!! Check out some of my pics below 🙂
This was our day at the river…even my niece had fun getting wet and throwing rocks.

This was us getting ready to go down the river

My nephew and nieces being silly

This was our hike through the Narrows in Zion Canyon

As you can see… things got a bit deep…

And last but definitley not least… a visit to Bryce Canyon

I can’t wait to start scrapbooking these pics… stop by the store soon or check the blog cause I will definitely be posting some of my layouts.

Lemonade has this summery floral feel… and check out the coordinating chipboard… I think it is just soooo cute!!!

Oh and June Bug!!! If you have a dog, you have to check out some of this paper!!! There is a cute design with dogs on it and the embellishments to coordinate are to die for!!! I have to admit, I saw Basic Grey’s latest paper lines in Pasadena at CKC and I initially was not impressed. Maybe I was overwhelmed with so many other things going on and I never really looked at the theme of these two lines. Yesterday I stopped by the store to pick up a cute little card from Scrap Therapy and ended up picking up both lines of paper!
The funny thing is, I never realized how this paper could be used for dogs because some designers on the Basic Grey site have used it for so many other things. This is something I love about Basic Grey paper. You have so many designs to choose from in a line that it can be used for basically anything.

Check out these Woolies, Pops and Bling It!

Do you ever wonder why Scrappin’ Good Times is the Best?!?! Well it’s cause we have the latest and best stuff. 🙂
Check out this latest inking tool

This applicator is far better for a few reasons. First you no longer have to use adhesive or glue dots to keep your pad attached to your inking tool, there is a piece of velcro that attaches to you pad. Second, you have a smaller applicator which makes inking letters and small dies easy. Third and what I think is the best think about this Exclusive SGT tool is you can label your pads and the bags so you don’t have to be tearing off a pad to adhere a new one. The pads are stored in a convenient bag that can be labeled as well. You attach all you little bags on a ring (that is included) and hang them on you tool bag.

If you haven’t picked one up yet, you definitely have to come by the store. For under $20.00, you get an inking tool, 5 pads, 5 applicators, 5 storage bags, and a ring to hold it all. If you have more that 5 colors of ink (and I know you do) pads, applicators, and bags are sold in individual packs.

Early BirdHave you been by the store lately???? If you haven’t you should stop by and check out the new Cosmo Cricket line “Early Bird.” It is so cute!! I was in the store yesterday visiting Heidi for a Thursday afternoon of Scrap Therapy and ran across this lovely new line.  I had to pick up some of this paper and of course contribute to Operation Save SGT 🙂

If you are free this evening, you should stop by and check out this new paper line and also see what classes are on display for tonight’s class kick off.

Hoping to see you tonight 🙂

Were you there?  If you weren’t, I have to say… YOU MISSED OUT!  4 days of uninterrupted cropping, was the perfect time to chat with friends, catch up on unfinished layouts, and organize.  I have to admit, initially I was hesitant about scrapbooking 4days straight, but it was perfect. I was able to come and go as my schedule permitted and leave my stuff out.  Let’s face it; anyone who has ever been to an all day crop knows that once closing time comes we are all thinking, “That wasn’t enough time.”  However, Cropcation was just perfect.  The best part of Cropcation was the convenience of being in Scrappin’ Good Times.  If I needed inspiration I could walk around and get inspired by other croppers or if I needed a piece of paper or an embellishment to complete a layout I was right there able to get up out of my seat and grab what I needed.  That was a lot better than having to drive anywhere or spend endless hours surfing the internet.  I sure am looking forward to another Cropcation Cropcation
