Scrapbook page inspiration

Posted on: September 26, 2008

Are you looking for a different idea for a scrapbook page?  I found one in a scrapbook magazine article that  was pretty neat, especially if you have kids.  It was about “reflecting on the past.”  The article talked about how we most often scrapbook our most current pictures.  Sometimes it would be nice to have a documented record about our past, or our family history that we would like our kids to know.  Suggested ideas were:  documenting “how you met your spouse,”  “how you spent your summers as a child,” “an honorable grandparent who went to war”, or “what were you like as a child.”  Wouldn’t it be fun to put together a scrapbook page with pictures from your past, and a story that maybe you have never shared with your kids?  Sometimes, I forget the little things who made me who I am today, and sometimes I forget that those “little” things might be fun for my daughter to read about.  She might actually believe that I was once a kid too!!!  🙂

I love this idea! Actually, my latest notion was to scrap a couple photos of my nephews when they were young and some of the cute things they were saying back then.
For instance:

Jake: “Mommy, daddy, daddy, mommy, daddy”
One of them, exasperated: “What Jake?”
Jake: “Loooooooooook…towa wawa!” (A water tower!)

Jason, standing in grandparents front yard, staring into sky and just a wee tot. YELLING and pointing: “Peace out airplane!” (My brother must have taught him that one.)

My fave:
Jake on the phone with any of us had memorized what he would say at the end of a phone call. Imagine the most depressed droning ever from a toddler:
Us: “Bye Jake”
Jake: “Bye (dram-ma, dram-pa, or Aunt Donna). I luh you see you soon bye bye.”

Yes…one sentence and by the time we would hang up we were all so sad. It is hilarious to think about it now. My mom and I still say that to each other, just as sad as Jake, when we get done talking to each other. If people are around us, we get the funniest stares.
