Songs for journaling help

Posted on: March 19, 2008

Do you ever find yourself struggling to come up with some sort of meaningful journaling for a layout you’ve just finished? Maybe you should try the lyrics of a favorite song of yours. I am a pretty big Country music fan and for the past several months, I have been listening to the song “My Wish” by Rascal Flats. Each time I hear it, I think to myself, “I want to send this message to my daughter!” So now, all I have to do is find the right picture(s), ready a layout, and set the lyrics in place. The beauty of this journaling method is that I can expand on it by adding why these lyrics are so important to me.

I hope that the days come easy and the moments pass slow,
And each road leads you where you want to go,
And if you’re faced with a choice, and you have to choose,
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you.
And if one door opens to another door closed,
I hope you keep on walkin’ till you find the window,
If it’s cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile,
But more than anything, more than anything,
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
And while you’re out there getting where you’re getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.

There are so many websites out there from which to get accurate lyrics for your favorite songs. I got these from But the best is to probably just type in either a verse or the artist and song title in your search engine.   Happy journaling! ~ Krista

Krista…What a great idea!! I love this song. Julie turned me on to it because she says this is her song to her daughter Jamie. It is really the perfect lyrics of all things great that you can hope for anyone you love. Thanks for thinking outside of the box and coming up with this great idea!! Trish

Ok, you have just re-inspired me. Here is one of my favs, it might inspire you for another page of Hannah! Now I need to figure out the papers. SGT has some new Country Papers that might work. Thanks K–Martina McBride’s ‘In My Daughter’s Eyes’:

In my daughter’s eyes
I am a hero I am strong and wise
And I know no fear
But the truth is plain to see
She was sent to rescue me
I see who I want to be
In my daughter’s eyes

In my daughter’s eyes
Everyone is equal
Darkness turns to light
And the world is at peace
This miracle God gave to me
Gives me strength when I am weak
I find reason to believe
In my daughter’s eyes

And when she wraps her hand
around my finger
Oh, It puts a smile in my heart
Everything becomes a little clearer
[In My Daughter’s Eyes

I realize what life is all about
It’s hanging on when your heart
Has had enough
It’s giving more when you feel
Like giving up
I’ve seen the light
It’s in my daughter’s eyes

In my daughter’s eyes
I can see the future
A reflection of who I am
And what will be
And though she’ll grow
And someday leave
Maybe raise a family
When I’m gone I hope you see
How happy she made me
For I’ll be there
In my daughter’s eyes
