Happy Halloween. While the store is closed for its new makeover, you all should be out enjoying this exciting holiday and taking lots of pictures so you can scrap them all in the near future. If you’re like me, you have little ones. I have been slaving away over Hannah’s costume for the past several days. She has asked to be Thomas the Train. My husband is warning me, “You can’t get too attached to it. You know it’s going to be damp and that’s made of cardboard. It’s going to start warping.” My response … “All I care about is getting the pictures. I don’t care what happens to it after I have my pictures.” So what am I going to do to ensure this? I am planning my shots now. And I thought I would give you a link to a short little article on photographing Halloween subjects. It’s from my favorite digital photography site (www.digital-photography-school.com). If you have a chance, head over to this article and get a few pointers. Then grab that camera and go enjoy the day.
Here’s to a safe and Happy Halloween for all of you.

So Devon just called from UCSD with plans for her second quarter. She’s still a political science major, but she’s going to change from a focus in public law to international relations (sounds more interesting to me), AND my little shutterbug has decided to go for a minor in Photography!! In case you’re new to our blog, she took over 8,000 pictures on our recent 18 day trip to Europe. She absolutely loves taking pictures. Her camera is always with her (and I’m not exaggerating). I’m so happy she’ll be taking some classes now to improve her photography skills.
This seemed like a good time to share a couple of pictures she took on our trip.
Lucerne, Switzerland, pretty much our favorite place:

And here’s a great picture of the Eiffel Tower from the Seine River. Believe it or not, it’s after 9:00 p.m. when this picture was taken. It stayed light so long over there.

Once Devon starts taking some photography classes, I guess I’ll really have a lot of pictures to scrapbook!!! I better start saving for our next trip.

This was the amount I would have had to pay if I didn’t sign up for a year subscription with Quickutz for only $14.99 a month!!! It had been almost a month since I last down loaded my quickutz shapes, and $1874.58 was the grand total. Now I have even more shapes and even some quotes to start creating new projects.

This weekend SGT is going to get a makeover. Closing on Halloween, the store will be revamped to have a whole new look. I remember before the store opened, peering through the windows just to quench my curiosity as to what fun ideas this new store would bring! That was so many years ago. Now, Trish and the SGT gang are going to rearrange the store to accommodate the new ideas for the coming year. Be sure to drop by to see the changes SGT is making. You know it’s always fun when Trish gets new ideas. Can’t wait to see what’s in store.

have you been enjoying the weekly ‘count down to Christmas’ projects? the goal was to create adorable yet simple projects that you can do inexpensively and easily for anyone on your Christmas list…and this year, more than ever, we could all use that!
tonight’s is a cute little gift card holder that i designed, it uses the acrylic card box that we sell at the store…
a few years ago i made one of these for my daughter for valentine’s day and made a mini album that slips inside…
wouldn’t that make an adorable gift for someone special this Christmas? you can make this project using up some of those scraps and left over letters and numbers…
hope to see you tonight!

Is Santa bringing a bundle of joy to someone you know? Are you looking for some adorable “baby” inspired paper and can only find spooky Halloween or vintage Christmas? Well, Scrappin’ Good Times has a great Baby Line from American Crafts. This line makes wonderful layouts, cards and projects. The American Crafts blog is full of ideas. The paper does not fight with photographs and in fact works beautifully with the black and white photos! Love the softness of this group. Cute, cute, cute! Happy Creating! ~Susan B.

Since times are tough for all of us this holiday season, these pails are perfect for homemade gifts. They can be beautifully decorated with just a strip of paper and some embellishments or ribbon. We just got a shipment of these great clear pails from Stampendous. We have carried these before in two sizes but this time we have 3 sizes in stock and are expecting a 4th size very soon!! These pails are great for baked goods, a gift card, accessories or any gift of your choice! They are going fast, so come in and check these out…the holidays are approaching fast!

Last week, I went to Halloween Haunt with Ryan and then the next morning headed out to Disneyland with my family. I absolutely love Halloween Haunt at Knott’s Scary Farm! It’s not the best time to get pictures, but I managed to ask a few of the monsters for a quick pic.
I think I got a total of 4 hours, possibly 5 hours of sleep before Disneyland with my family for my Mom’s birthday. My parents hadn’t been to disneyland since I was probably in middle school, if that. We all got annual passes (except my sister, whose pass was still valid). Here are a few pictures from Disneyland:

Eventually, I’ll get the pics from my sister’s cam and my dad’s cam and get them printed. In the meantime, Happy Scrappin!
